Plants in the Port Macquarie Region
Gardening in February
February heralds the final month of summer, time to return to our gardens.
Now is a good time to prepare our vegetable patch for winter. Apply well-rotted manure and compost and leave it to settle for a few weeks prior to planting.
Citrus will respond to a feed; we recommend a good handful of organic life and some compost applied around the drip zone. For potted plants, we suggest a slow-release citrus food.
With the current dry conditions, apply some wetting agents to our lawns and gardens. This will ensure water can soak into the soil.
A light application of Grassmaster now and late Autumn will prepare our lawns for the cooler season ahead.
Our indoor plants can also be given a feed with a slow-release fertiliser.
